The trip is supposed to be a celebration of our five years anniversary :) It was earlier than actual day becos it was a weekday and Dear would be reporting to his new work place.
For me, it was an apt place to go to becos HK is the first overseas trip that Dear and I made (Genting not counted).
There was a promo for SIA air tix, which we snagged and yeah, I finally got to travel on SIA. It was so shiok lor, travelling in comfort.
The only downside was we got a afternoon flight to HK, so we reached there at seven plus at night.
Once we touched down, we took the airport express to our hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Our hotel: Butterfly on Prat. It was rather decent but the small room fell short of expectations.
I love the large shower area. But the toilet did not have any blinds for its windows, so it can be quite awkward. :p
After putting down our stuff, we went to Temple Street night market. Dinner was at Mido Cafe.
We ordered the baked pork chop rice to share. Yummy!
The night market. After that we ta paoed oyster omelette to the hotel.
Day 2
Next morning we went to the Mongkok area for shopping.
Fitst, breakfast at Kam Wah cafe. Love how sumptious their breakfast is in HK!
The cafe's famous polo bun. Good lor, buttery on the inside and sweet crust on the outside.
It was autumn in HK, so the weather was superb. But the downside is, all the shops were selling winter clothes, but I could still get tops in H&M. ~hearts~
There was a Hello Kitty fair at Langham Place. Cue camwhoring time.
We reached there at about 3pm and were lucky to have a seat after 30 mins. I have heard of ppl queueing for up to three hours.
We went to Argyle Centre after that. We had wanted to come here before going to Langham Place but we were too early and a lot of the shops were not opened.
So we came back later. And bought our fav cold noodles!
We bought from the wrong store the first time as the shop had shifted to the ground floor but we didn't know and couldn't find the shop on the third store. There was a provision shop with a grouchy uncle and we bought from him. His noodles is not that nice :(
I bought a pair of boots ^ ^ but it has heels so, it's only good if I go out with Dear. Will need to buy another pair if I get to go another cold country, hee.
The food is said to be good but it is a one Michelin star restaurant and has the honour of being the cheapest Michelin star restaurant in the whole world, so the queues are always long.
We reached there at about 3pm and were lucky to have a seat after 30 mins. I have heard of ppl queueing for up to three hours.
As you can see, it's a cosy 20 seater, that explains the queues too.
We were seated beside the counter, watching the fresh food being made. We were lucky to have our own corner and did not have to share the table with others.
Their famous bbq pork buns. Good! Never thot that char siew buns can be bbq-ed, but it works!
Chee Chong Fun. Ok lah, not too bad but not too fantastic.
Our table of food. Everything was quite good except the meat balls with orange peel. Weird combi. I think everything added up to S$20++. Cheap rite. haha.
To Dear's toy shops. But sadly, nothing interests him.
A tired and disappointed Dear went to Xu Liu Shan to eat. I was quite tired too liao.
We skipped dinner since we had a late filling dim sum lunch. But we had a lovely supper from the snacks store below our hotel.
Love their meatballs! Ate it for almost every night. So shiok, eating warm food on the streets in the coldness of the night.
And this side of the store sells the devil chilli bbq food. The uncle will bbq the food and then dip it into the chilli sauce.
Dear had swollen lips from eating. He even tried to warn me by giving a speech on how he has never tasted such spicy food since his sec days when he ate dun noe wat. When I tried, wah really spicy! But so shiok at the same time. hehehe.
Day 3
We are going to Macauy today. We ate breakfast at the cafe below our hotel. One thing good about our hotel was there's lots of food and shops in the area.
On the ferry to Macau
Once at Macau, we went to take the hotel shuttle bus. We spent the whole day travelling on hotel shuttle buses, didn't have to spend money on transport. So proud of my planning!
The streets of Macau
We went to the three star michelin French restaurant in Macau. The pre- appetiser: apple with something sorbet
My appetiser: Not that good lah. I left quite a bit on my plate and the manager, who was very attentive, asked me how did i liked it. Dear joked that the chef will come out and slash me.
When my main course came, I knew I was falling into food heaven. The smell of the caramalised quail and foie gras was fantastic! Of cos, I shared my foie gras with Dear.
Dear had the rib eye, which was good too. Argh, how come the photo does not show up on Blogger.
We could each choose three items from the dessert trolley.
Our selection. The desserts were good too. We paid over S$60 for the lunch set, which was a steal. Love the experience! And now I can tell ppl I have eaten at a three Michelin restaurant!
Hotel Lisboa which we were at. I think it's owned by tycoon Stanley Ho.
We worked off the calories by walking to Senado Square.
At Senado Square, which we found to our horror, was an OVERLY touristy place. There were many ppl and many shops along the streets. It was more like a shopping street than a place to see the heritage of Macau.
Ruins of St Paul: the obligatory tourist photo.
We got our pork chop bun from here.
The taste was all rite only. I dun like the dry bun but the pork chop was well marinated.
After that, we walked to Hotel Sintra to catch a shuttle bus to the City of Dreams, to go to the Venetian.
Near the hotel was this famous portuguese egg tart. I still prefer my Tong Heng egg tart :p\
At the Venetian
The beautiful interior. You may think, wah they spend so much money. But technically, the customers of the place paid for the decor when they lose in the casino rite, haha.
We huat about $60 in the casino, playing Big Small. I can understand why ppl will gamble if there are no restriction orders. It really is very easy to make money in a way and that makes it addictive to play even if you lose money.
Dinner was Fatburger, which was all right only leh. Burgers are just burgers to me.
We took the ferry back home. Supper time at my fav snack store again!
Day 4
Breakfast was at Tsui Wah cafe near our hotel. They are famous for their buns drenched with evaporated milk. Really good when it's piping hot! I miss it now.
Again, it's astonishing how much Hongkongers eat for breakfast. Or is it just us. haha. I had the abalone and ham macaroni. And there was quite a lot of abalone strips. :)
ABALONE for breakfast ok! I thought my family is the only crazy ppl who do that.
ABALONE for breakfast ok! I thought my family is the only crazy ppl who do that.
Off to the land of happiness after breakfast
Disney brought Duffy bear to the HK disneyland and they are "hardselling" it. All the staff had on Duffy badges.
Everyone is decked out in Xmas gear, except Pluto, who was seen hearing a Chinese hat. Duh.
All the Xmas decor in Disneyland.
Although we have been here, there are still new things to be done. We watched the new Lion King Show.
I didn't manage to find Eeyore to take photos again. Argh. We took photos with Goofy. While waiting for our turn, I asked Dear if I can pull Goofy's tooth when we take the photo. He said he don't think so.
And when we take the photo, Dear act pulled Goofy's ear. Goofy was shocked and the Disney staf told us not to do it. Hilarious lor. Dear tried to shift the blame to me by saying I wanted to do it, but I was asking for fun leh. And he had told me no le mah. He is also siao liao hahaha.
If he wasn't at Disneyland, I would have thot he is a fake lor. So ugly.
Our lunch, and then we went to watch the xmas parade.
Love the energy. Wahaha.
Super long to wait to take photo with Duffy
And we tried the Go-kart that we didn't get to the last time! 45 min wait to take the ride!
A shotting game. I got the highest level of points lor, Dear dun believe that I was so good.
Xmas lightings at night
We were tired and hungry after getting back from Disneyland. Dinner was at Tsui Wah restaurant becos it seemed nice when we visited in the morning. Tried the swiss wings. Very good!
And the curry was good too! Yums.
Day 5
Met up with Dear's fren for dim sum at Fu Shing restaurant, which serves good food. It was a little ex, but it's worth the money for a first visit to the place.
So sad I only took pics of the hairy crab roe xiao long bao, cannot salivate over the food now.
His fren then brought us to eat H&M at Queen's road (yeah) and dessert. After dessert, we were brought to Tai Cheong bakery for the famous egg tarts.
After the egg tarts, round the corner on the street was a shop that HK star Alan Tham patronises often.
His fren just queued us up to try the food. By now we are very stuffed already.
Hk cafes are always packed to the max. See the Alan tham's posters on the wall?
Halfway through the meal, his fren said there's another nice cafe near his work place, at which Dear spit out the coke that he was drinking, wahaha.
We finally said bye to his fren after four hours of eating and we went to our area to shop.
Policemen are always around, hee. At one of the branded shops, we spot a PRC woman being accused of shoplifting. Kaypoh Dear made us stay to watch what happen and how the cops came into the shop to do the questioning.
So we walked back to our hotel to get dinner again at Tsui Wah. And ordered the same dishes again.
Day 6
We went to Charlie Brown's cafe for breakfast. So happy that it is just behind our hotel.
A leisurely breakfast
Since it is Xmas, everyone is made to wear Xmas clothings, hee.
We then went back to Mongkok to shop again and Dear managed to get a final fantasy figure. Dear wanted to watch his Chelsea match and we ended up watching the match from a pub below our hotel, since it was an early match.
Day 7
Last day in HK :( We sleep in til about 10am plus, went to grab breakfast and shopped at Granville Road.
Then we went back to the hotel to check out. Did some more shopping in the area after that.
Dear wanted to catch a movie becos his friend told him that certain cinemas have seats that vibrates during a kung fu show.
I told Dear to ask the cinema recept first before asking. Dun waste money mah. The person replied no with a straight face when Dear asked if the seats moved. Epic funniness.
Lunch at Macau cafe. I wanted to order the roast meats but ended up getting this. Argh.
