We started Day 2 with a buffet breakfast in the hotel before checking out to head to downtown Bangkok. This is the so-called buffet line. Dishes were tradtional Thai dishes like mixed vegetables, fish ball soup, stir-fried pork, porridge etc.
The coffee shop setting of the breakfast place. All the Chelsea fans waking up to breakfast and watching the news programme on television as they ate.
The breakfast was not too appetising but at least it was free and filled the stomach.
We then took a cab to our hotel in Sukhumvit: Arcadia Suites Bangkok.
The biggest con of the place is it is located in one of those small lanes and cab drivers are not familiar with it, especially since it is a new establishment. The driver made a coupleof turns and had to ask for directions before reaching the place.
We were to discover that this was to become an irritant for the rest of the trip and have to pay for extra cab fare as the cab got lost in the streets.
What made up for it was that service apartment was really roomy and nice at a cheap price.
The living room area
Which includes a kitchenette, and best of all, a washing machine! That means nice smelling clean clothes!
The bedroom
With a awesome bathroom
After checking in (we were lucky to be allowed to check in early), we went to Crowns Tailor for me to get my measurements done.
I think the tailor was very worried about my tight deadline: I only have three days for them to finish my suit, shirt and skirt. He asked me to come back for the first fitting that evening. So in the meantime, it was off to Platinum Mall for shopping!
Finally shopping time!
Then we break for lunch at the food court.
And ordered the usual. This is beginning to feel too routinese. Maybe I should order other food next time.
Pad Thai
Dear picked up some Takoyaki which tasted average.
And dessert.
We, or rather I, went back to shopping after lunch until we had to go back to the tailor for my first fitting. We made a pit stop at Central World to look see a bit since it was on the way to the BTS station to the tailor.
Then we crossed the street to look for dinner and massage. Dinner was at Gallery 11 which claims to serve authentic Thai food and had pretty good reviews online.
Very dim in the restaurant. I was pretty tired by the time we sat down to eat.
We ordered a Tom Yum Soup, fried chicken wings and stir fried beef with kailan which turned out to be the best dish of the night.
The prices were a little steep and not worth it. My conclusion: the food in T&K is really nice and relatively cheap. We didn't go there this time but I would slot it into my itinerary for the next trip!
After dinner, we walked around to find a massage place. Dear chose one with pretty girls standing outside the shop. Instead of reading the hint, he decided to choose that place and we ended up with lousy massages.
After the lousy massage, we took the BTS back to Ploen Chit Station and walked back to the hotel from there. Then of course, it was TV and snack time back in the room while washing our dirty laundry. Actually, more of Ipad time.
