Bangkok 2013- Day 4

Day 4

Today we are going to visit Pratunam Market and have breakfast at the famous SabX2 Wanton Noodles.

The hotel tuk tuk that fetches guests to and from Ploenchit BTS station. We didn't take it this morning.

Walking along the streets to hitch a cab. Wrong choice. The cab we took dropped us off in front of Platinum and told us to walk over to Pratunam. WTH. Pay money and still have to walk. I was so freaking angry that I kept venting to Dear about the atrocious cab drivers we have been meeting on this trip.

So despite the yummy breakfast, the atmosphere was a bit tense between us. I prefer the wanton mee to their pork trotters rice though.

This is really nice. Springy noodles mixed with pork lard and pork oil.

After breakfast, we strolled over to Pratunam Market to have a look. It is actually the first time that I have been here! The first time we tried to visit Pratunam, we went to the wrong side of the market and thought it was the Pratunam market that we were looking for. The place was relatively cramped but luckily, not too warm. Think I will stick with Platinum Mall and the comforable shopping environment. Hurhur.

After lunch, we went to Central World to buy my ahem, underwear. And then we went to Discovery Mall and Paragon for lunch and to while away time before collecting our clothes at the tailor.

Dear saw this Korean BBQ restaurant and wanted to give it a try. Turns out the food was pretty yummy and reasonably priced. Good decision to eat here!

See how innovative these restaurants are. They have a 'sucker' that is meant to be placed directly over the pot. The waitress pulled the 'sucker' down towards the pot, as if it is having a hair perm!

The grilled BBQ set. : )-

The restaurant used white charcoal. So I had fun grilling the food.

Dear also ordered a fried beef cubes lunch set which was pretty decent.

We walked past the Magnum cafe in Bkk. Dear calls it a gimmick and refused to buy from it, haha.

Magnum set up an extravagant display outside its store to promote itself. Many people stopped to take photos.

Including Chel!

We went to the tailor shortly after to collect our clothes and went back to the hotel to put them now.  Dinner was going to be a buffet at the Vie Hotel which was supposed to be a highlight of the trip. The dinner buffet was S$40 ++ and included sashimi and foie gras.

At the entrance of Vie Hotel

Waiting in the lobby as we were early for dinner. And stoning, haha.

The restaurant. The staff were very nice: one of them brought us around the restaurant to show us what the buffet spread entails when we enquire about the buffet.

To be honest, the buffet spread was pretty limited but we thought the price should be worth it with the sashimi and foie gras. So after discussing, we decided to give it a try. I know lah, we think a lot before we settle on what to eat.

So we mainly aimed the sashimi and foie gras, and didn't touch much of the other food. Dear made me ordered the foie gras cos he was too pai seh to make the orders repeatedly.Want to eat still paiseh!

I think we ate 14 pieces of foie gras that night! *O*
