Sydney- Day 8

Sydney- Day 8

It's time to visit the famous Paddington Market today! But before that, we went for brunch at Clipper Cafe near the Glebe market.

We walked quite a bit to the place. Burning calories in advance for our meal.

I ordered some sausage Spanish thingy that is pretty good.

And smoked salmon eggs benedict.

To wash down the meal and kick start the day with caffeine, we ordered some artisan coffee.

We had to wait for a while in the drizzle to get a seat. But it was all well cos we managed to get a nice window seat. Add points to the dining ambience; we just sat there to people-watch and were in our lala land.

Off to the Glebe market we went after the leisurely brunch. By now the drizzle had turned into a heavy rain and this what the Glebe market looked like that wet morning.

The market was pretty small but we deliberately stood at the stalls for a while to hope the rain will be smaller.

One thing interesting about Sydney: quite a few of their outdoor markets are held in schools.

We walked back the road we had came to make our way to Paddington market. Along the way was a music disc records shop where Dear spent some time to thumb through almost everything on display.

One of the Caucasians must have thought that Dear is some music fan cos he took the initiative to tell Dear that there was a records sale down the road. Certainty surprised to meet someone so friendly. :p

So we decided to have a look. Turned out that there was an entrance fee so we didn't go in and continued the journey to Paddington Market.

We had to take a bus to Paddington market. Along the way to the bus, we walked through a charming little garden.

And also walked past the University of Notre Dame

Finally, after a long walk to the bus and maybe about a 30-min bus ride, we arrived at Paddington market.

Stalls near the entrance of the market. As we walked deeper into the market, we realised a lot of stalls were closed.

Even when the sign says there were more stalls, but there were no stalls.

I even asked one of the stall owners why there seemed to be so little opened stalls. She said many of the owners did not come to set up shop because of the heavy rain that morning. Like that also can?!

Very disappointing lor. Left with nothing much to shop or do, we decided to make a trip to Manly Beach which many say is prettier than the touristy Bondi Beach.

On the ferry!

The ferry ride is quite scenic. Can see the Sydney Opera House

And the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

After a 30min ferry ride, we have reached. Walking to the beach and we found it amusing that even Surfer Boy has to wait for the traffic lights before gaining access to the beach. Haha.

Man hunt time

All the surfers having fun in the waters. Not like us who just come to look see only. We wanted to visit their weekend market but it wasn't opened.

Shopping and eating needs can be satisfied at this open plaza between the ferry terminal and the beach.

We bought soft shell crab maki as a snack on the ferry ride back.

The ferry ride back was pretty eventful. The waters were very rocky and the ferry was tipping up and down with the waves. At one point, I think the boat dipped 10 degrees into the waves lor. The teenagers were quite excited at the roller coated ride and went to the outdoor area to get splashed. In contrast, poor Dear was pretty insecure cos he doesn't like boat rides.

Of course, we reached shore safe and sound. We decided to make use of our kitchenette and cook for dinner since there was nothing much we want to eat out at. So a shopping trip at the supermarket ensued and we also bought a set meal from Miso restaurant.

Steak and sausage dinner cooked by Masterchef Dear

While I help to set up the table and watch tv, haha

Dear's culinary work

Our takeaway from Miso restaurant. It was a simple yummy meal. Thanks Dear for cooking for me!

Dessert was chocolate that Dear had bought. He is the one with the sweet tooth lah. Dear ate most of the chocolate.

It was the last night of our trip in Sydney. We spent the rest of the night packing our luggage. Boo hoo.
