Dear finally has a good foodie place to share with me. I met him yesterday to study together and when I asked him what are we having for dinner, he smiled and actually said he had a surprise for me.
In the end, he brought me to Downtown East. When we reached there, I asked me where's the eating place and he said, "Food court". At that split instant, my first thought was 'What? You brought me all the way here to eat at the food court?" Luckily Dear went on to tell me that he heard there was an ex hotel chef that had set up a chicken rice stall here. And so he was forgiven, haha.
Honestly speaking, the chicken rice wasn't too fantastic. I've tasted better. But the thing that still keeps me salivating is the fried tofu in spicy Thai sauce that came in the chicken rice set. The fried tofu was very crispy on the outside but the inside was still very silky soft and just slid down ur throat while you are still chewing on the thin crisp of the skin. Absolutely divine! The spicy sauce added a bit kick and immense flavour to the tofu. The dish was simply perfect and yes, I know it's a simple dish but nevertheless, it needs lot of effort to perfect it.
We saw the chef's son at the stall too and he was ehm...big sized. Well, who wouldn't tend to eat too much when you have a father that can cook so well?
Hopefully Dear will bring me to eat the famous Changi Village nasi lemak soon!
