Crabby Crab

I went to Dear's house yest to study together and during the evening, the whole family decide to go to East Coast Park for seafood as a birthday dinner for the mother.

So my craving for chilli crab was going to be satisfied in the end! Lucky my leg healed in time for the dinner, hee. Although I was a little sian that I have to go out with the whole family and had to stop our revision. The brother suggested that we eat at No Signboard Seafood and ever the food lover I am- I'm up any time for food, especially free food! And especially free expensive food since it's a seafood treat. Haha. I've heard much about that restaurant and was hoping that the food would be great.

So we are went down to East Coast and ordered quite a few dishes. Steamed fish, sambal kangkong, sweet and sour pork, lobster cold dish and 4 crabs which weigh at about 4kg. When the plate of crabs came, the plate was so big and piled high with orange crabs drenched in generous sauce. I've never seen such a big crabs before me waiting for my consumption. I was wowed and whispered to Dear that we should take a photo. But I was too paiseh to do this kind of silly thing in front of his family.

Guess how much the bill came up to? A whooping $379! This was the most expensive meal that I've ever eaten! The same goes for Dear.

I mean, we knew it was going to be quite costly but nobody expected it to be SO expensive. And it is not as if the food is very nice, a good zi char stall can beat the food there hands down. Everything tasted only average and the lobster meat was quite tough instead of being succulent. I'm a firm believer in value for money and when we spend that kind of big money, the food had better be excellent, not just mediocre.

The brother burnt a big big hole and I think his wife was not very happy about it. Dear decided to pay him part of the money and although I felt heart pain at the hole in Dear's wallet, it's still the nice thing to do. At least one thing we learnt, never go back to that restaurant again. No wonder only foreigners frequent these kind of places- the true locals would be smart enough to find good chow elsewhere at better prices.

Nevertheless, I ate quite a lot of crabs. Since I'm there le, might as well eat more! Hahaha
