Dear and I were watching movie and having dinner at his fav Kallang Leisure Park and we decided to shift to Boon Lay to watch the fireworks.
I know Dear wanted to watch the fireworks from the stadium but the shops were closed at 9 plus and we were bored. I think it was a good choice to go to Boon Lay becuase there was a carnival (aka pasar malam) and uncle Dear had fun going through it.
I think we spent almost $20 playing at the games stall. In the end, we got a fishing game, a Mickey mouse soft toy and a Xiaoxin soft toy (which is Dear's fav). The two of them have been ganging up to irritate me, hai.
And now for our Christmas eve photos:
I brought Dear to Jurong Point to stroll before bringing him to the special place for dinner. We had wanted to watch a movie but the timings were bad. : (
So we went to Bakerzin for tea and walked around the shopping mall. I love the place!
Anyway, the exotic location I planned for dinner was Jurong Hilltop restaurant, located on the hill opposite the birdpark. It serves Jap teppanyaki, so I thot I shld bring Dear to try it.
And I was wearing my new blue dress that I like so much. Feeling so happy!
So we took a cab from JP to the hill up the winding roads.
And in the restaurant:
Sit beside the teppanyaki and watch the chefs cook. Have to wear little orange aprons too. It was full hse even in such an ulu area.
See the deft hands of the chef
We ordered the scallops.
And the foie gras. We ordered 2 servings because Dear loves foie gras.
When we ordered the second serving, the waitress got our order wrong and we were served with teriyaki chicken instead. We had to reject the food. I was quite irritated at how the waitress didn't even noe what is 'foie gras' when we ordered it since it was on the menu. I would have thot they should at least have been trained in what are the items on the menu. Tsk.
Soft shell crab with egg on the left and sauteed mushrooms on the right. But the soft shell crab was cooked with parsley, yucks.
And beef.
The nice thing abt the place is that they gave complimentary dessert in a little lounge so that you can sit and relax after the meal.
Dessert was mango pudding. Normal tasting.
And after dinner we climbed up the spiralling staircase to see the view. It was drizzling. :p
Dear thought that the food was only normal, I agreed. Apparently the standards have dropped as the Jap chef who used to cook here had quit. Now only Chinese chefs cooking. But I guess it was a nice cool place to try. After all the decor was authentic and the dining location unique.
Just that we smelled so smokey after the meal. Hee.
