Dear had the inspiration to go prawn fishing and we went to Punggol prawn fishing farm since we have not been to the place.
It was more ulu than we thot it would be, having to drive in a long way to get to the prawning place, which is in Marina Country Club.
So the atmosphere was quite good, since the ponds are just beside the piers.
The prawning place, which seems to be quite popular and crowded. Maybe becos it was a public holiday. Still, we dun like crowds and having to fight with ppl for our prawns since we are not very good fisherman.
I told you, we are not fisherman. We caught seven prawns in all, kinda little but I think one of our best catches : (
Two of the prawns were mother prawns with roe in their bellies and Dear caught a big prawn. Or else our prawn collection would be so sad.
The place also offered bbq facilites for $2 so we decided to just bbq our prawns and look for dinner later.
Some time was spent building the fire for the prawns. I didn't know it takes so long for the fire to be ready! All for seven prawns.
And we didn't bring any butter, cooking condiments or sauces with us. So it's really eating the prawns fresh with their original flavours.
In fact I think, so original that Dear and I had stomach aches after eating the prawns.
I dunnoe abt Dear but it was a rare time that I had such a big tummy ache after eating something.
There was a nice evening breeze, so it made the whole experience quite enjoyable.
The country club also houses the famous Ponggol Seafood Restaurant. Dear saw newspaper cuttings introducing the restaurant and asked if I want to try the highly recommended Mee Goreng.
So we ta pao the Mee Goreng and drove to Ponggol Beach (my idea) to have a seaside picnic. But the beach was closed off and we can only see in the car to eat. Sigh.
But it was an interesting sight to see that there were quite a few fishing enthusiasts fishing at the beach and there was even a police post at such an ulu area!
And after the day of Ponggol adventure, it was time to go home.
Fun day!
