We have not been updating becos we have really been busy. But I'm on leave this week so the task of blogging is on my shoulders. (since when is it not on my shoulders)
Dear's birthday just passed two weeks ago. This year, I designed an "Around the world in one day" celebrations for him.
The idea was to go to places that represent different countries. I made a travel voucher with pictures related to the country on it for Dear to guess what the country was.
To start off the day, we had lunch in Japan.
I brought Dear to Tatsuya. I may not have the ability to treat him to a dinner at Tatsuya but they have really affordable lunch bentos that gives customers a taste of its goodness.
My sushi bento set. Which Dear helped me to finish as there was wasabi in all the sushi and I dun like sushi.
But the fish was fresh. The egg was well done and tempura lightly battered, you can still taste the ingredients in it and not just the flour.
Dear's unagi bento. The unagi was crispy on the outside and has a shiok texture in the mouth. Too bad there was not much sauce, so the rice and fish were a bit dry.
And being a top restaurant, even the fruits served were very sweet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that besides the watermelon, they served my fav pear! : )
All the waitresses were dressed in kimonos and service was thumbs up.
And before we catch the next plane to Egypt, Dear demanded to know what is his bday present. So I presented it to him. I bought him a winter cap and scarf, and a bottle of candy for humour.
We went to the National Museum to catch the Ancient Egypt exhibtion. It was a little disappointing as the exhibition was smaller than what we talk.
After we came out from the exhibtion, Dear's flu was getting very bad and he wanted to go home and rest.
So we had to make a detour back to Singapore.
Yes, Dear was sick on his birthday. Poor guy. But he always has a knack for falling sick on the important days (my bday, our TW trip), so much so that I was upset at him for falling sick.
I'm not trying to sound mean but I had painstackingly arranged the day, I also have the right to feel sad that he can't enjoy what I have labourously planned.
Lucky after a nap, Dear felt better and we continued our journey to Spain. I was quite looking forward to dining here too, as I read a lot of glowing reviews about the place and I knew Dear would also love the place.
Garlic prawns with chilli. It was fantastic and Dear decided to order another tapas. I couldn't stop oohing when I ate it. The prawns were crunchy, the chilli was spicy but not overwhelming and the garlicky taste was so fragrant.
And after 30 minutes of waiting, our seafood paella arrives. There were loads of ingredients and you can taste the flavours of the seafood in the rice! Very nice done although it was a little fishy for me at times. But I'm being picky.
Too bad Dear was driving or else we could try the sangria. I heard it's one of the best in town.
The plan was to adjourn to Udders next door for ice cream but Dear didn't want to eat ice cream. So i guess we have to be back another time for the ice cream and food.
I really missed the food we had that day. If only everyday can be like that- good food, good fun and good company sans the flu.
