Downtown east chalet

Dear and I had a cheap getaway with a $15 (using company’s corporate rate!) staycation at Downtown East Chalet last week. It was quite shiok in the sense that we did a lot of things with discounts. Save money!

The room was not up to expectations and I would not want to stay in a chalet again. Think I’m becoming atas liao haha.

We went to Fish & Co at White Sands for lunch first before heading to the chalet. Dear had bought a $25 voucher for a platter. But we got a bit sick after eating all the fried food.

We then went to book movie tickets. I had the company’s VIP card, which means free tickets!! Dear wanted to watch Johnny English but the card can only issue two free tickets for a movie, no matter where and when. And so we couldn’t get free tickets cos someone else had watched it with the card. Grr.

I chose Friends with Benefits, since we hadn’t watched a romantic comedy for a long time. It was ok. Then it was dinner at the chicken rice shop. Yummz!!

And then another movie at night to while time away, haha.

Breakfast on the second day was at Coffee Beans which was another steal. They had a one for one offer, and I redeemed the price with my credit card points, so we only paid $3++ for two breakfast sets!!

Just as well, as the breakfast is only mediocre. Pui.

Then we went for a KTV session, which was the most ex thing we did. But before that we had another mediocre lunch at a Thai eatery outside our chalet area. Food was slow and tasted all rite only. The good thing was it was cheap.

I had the Tom Yum fried rice.

While Dear had the basil chicken rice.

I've always wanted to buy discounted sushi at supermarkets at night. It's the feeling of picking up good buys and getting to eat cheap nice sushi. So, we went to NTUC after dinner to grab a box for supper. Only $7++! Hahaha.

We checked out the next day after watching another movie: Real Steel. Went back to Dear's place and stayed over that night.

While we managed to save quite a bit during our staycation with smart budgeting (hee), we spend a bomb over the weekend as we collected a new toy. More on it soon!
