Bangkok 2013- Day 3

Day 3

The hotels we booked during this trip included breakfast in their rates, so we might as well eat the free breakfas.

We throt down to breakfast to find with disappointment that the spread was small. Only a few dishes on the table. But oh well, can't complain much when it's free. :p

The breakfast area

After breakfast, we went back to Platiunum Mall to finish the shopping. The mini drumlets were still available at the KFC in Bangkok so that became our lunch. Yum Yum.

The spicy chicken rice on the right was not that nice though. It was just spices sprinkled on the fried chicken (tasted a bit weird) and it was hard to eat the rice with no sauces at all.

After a little bit more of shopping, we took a coffee break before going to Central World to shop for my, ahem, inner wear. Tee hee.

We then took the BTS to the tailor again for my third fitting. Dear also got his measurements done for the free shirt that he is entitled to for recommending me to the tailor. Free shirt for him! We took some time in the shop looking at the different cloths. In the end, how was the cloth chosen? Dear saw a shirt order by another customer that was still being made and thought it looked nice. Then he just told the tailor 'I also want that.'. No creativity at all~!

After we settled everything at the tailor, we went to Chocolate Ville. This is a new restaurant built in Bkk that has been receiving quite a bit of hype. The concept of the place is that instead of building the regular brick and mortar restaurant, the owner built a mock European town on the big piece of land and you can eat at tables within the facility. Ingenious right!

This is only possible in Bkk where land is abundant and cheap lor.

Anyway, we took a cab there and got stuck in the evening jam. Since the place is an hour drive from Sukhumvit, the cab fare was pretty hefty even for Singapore standards. But oh well, travelling is about exploring new places right and, Chocolate Ville was meant to be a big highlights in the trip since we have been to Bangkok for four times and are repeating the places we visit.

Pictures and more pictures below of the place. Best to go before the sun set to get the day shots and then stay for dinner to taket the night shots.

And now going into the town

The sun was beginning to set.

Can you spot Chel Chel?

As you can see, the place is freaky big! Lots of space for tables for dining. Sit anywhere and order. The food will be served to you.

Tom Yum soup becauseI still haven't drank one that I like! This was not enough to whet my craving.

I ordered a rice to go along with the soup. Cheeky waiter served me a heart-shaped one. I'm just teasing, I'm sure they do it for other customers too, haha.

Garlic and chilli calamari which would make a good snack to go with beer

Dear ordered a Pad Thai spaghetti. Sorry the photo doesn't look too good. It was dim there and the noodles were black. Doesn't make for a photogenic photograph.

The dish tasted exactly like Pad Thai, only that the noodles were spaghetti. So it was pretty average. The prices here were not that pricey as it can be for a place like that. So it is worth checking out. The troublesome thing is the transport since it is a little far out.

When we wanted to leave, the staff had difficulty finding us a metered taxi. He spent 15 minutes on his walkie talkie before a cab agreed to came. Alas, when we got on, the driver asked for a flat rate and had difficulty reading our hotel taxi card.

So it was another struggle to get back to our serviced apartment, which is pretty frustrating since we just paid quite a bit of cab fare coming to this place.

Taxi drivers were very difficult during this trip. I don't know if it is because of the location of the serviced apartment. But the drivers we met are really irritating: they would pick us up and then figure out where is our actual destination. A couple asked us to get down in the area because they cannot find the place. WTF rite. Argh.

So complaints aside, we managed to reach our serviced apartment and settled in for a nice bath in the bath tub. Ahhhhh.
