Japan Day 5

Japan Day 5- Kobe

One of the things on my bucket list is to eat Kobe beef. The city of Kobe is slightly more than an hour away from Osaka. So a day trip to Kobe is a must since we are already in the Kansai area.

Our simple breakfast at a cafe near our hotel before we set off

The blue skies in Kobe as we enter the town. Kobe is the number 1 city in Japan that the Japs want to stay in.

Ever the savvy consumer, I found one restaurant located just opposite the train station we alighted that serves good Kone beef. Lunch sets always offer the most value for money deals and so we had luxurious Kobe beef for lunch.

Tadah! Lunch is served. The texture is really what sets it apart from ordinary beef. It was very soft and tender with a bite, and buttery at the same time.

After filling our stomachs, the next agenda on the itinerary was to visit a sake brewery. Besides being known for Kobe beef, Kobe is also a manufacturer of sake. Sake is a traditional alcohol drink in Japan but it is losing popularity among the young as it is seen as an old-fashioned drink.

A map along the way that lists all the sake breweries in the area.

We walked through the residential areas en route to the brewery.

The landscape of the town.

We reached the brewery after a 15min walk. The brewery where sake is being made is only available during the colder winter months. We were too early for that , so we can only look around the outer areas and shopping area.

Photo opportunities in the front yard.

More photo opportunities as we enter the brewery. There is an area where you can watch a video of the sake manufacturing process so that you don't feel like coming all the way for nothing.

Sake ice cream- found this in the food section. We bought back a couple of bottles of sake.

After the learning journey about sake, we went to the outlet mall for shopping.

Shopping time! I managed to buy a bag and a cap here, so the trip was worth it.

Our tea break to rejuvenate from shopping

By the time we were done with shopping, it was time to go back to Osaka for dinner as my friend needed to buy the airport bus ticket to return home tomorrow.

My simple but yummy dinner after we checked out the ticket.

We then returned to the hotel for my friend to pack her bags and of course, dip in the onsen again as this is our last night in the hotel!
