New York- Day 3

New York- Day 3

Today is an exploration day. We are going to drive to Woodbury Commons for outlet shopping and hopefully some sightseeing if there is time. But as it turns out in the end, there was no time and we spent the whole day in Woodbury despite mixed reviews on the shopping there.

Dear loves to self-drive. He came up with the idea of driving to Woodbury instead of taking the bus since there were also four of us. So good job in planning the driving, dear.

The morning did not start out too well as it rained quite heavily. We walked in the rain to the car rental place to pick up the car.

See the heavy rain- we couldn't see much sights along the drive :( dear did all the driving and was very brave to take on the New York traffic.

We did miss an exit on the highway and took a long round but other than that, there was no other hiccups and Dear did very well. Love the scout in him.

We made a stop for breakfast. Although I would have prefer to stop at a real cafe but none was to be found. So make do lor.

Macdonald's look the same everywhere.

We finally reached Woodbury at 10am and split to do our shopping.

Sugar snacks to recharge when you are drained from the shopping.

Our shopping loots at half time when we all regrouped for a late lunch.

I had painstakingly looked for a pretty good restaurant that was just outside of the outlet mall for lunch to avoid eating the generic American food in there. But no one seemed interested to make the way out. Think everyone was already half stoned from the non-stop walking and shopping.

So we settled in Apple Bee's in the end. We were walking to the restaurant when Miss Hamater, the real shopaholic of the group, said she wanted to continue shopping and didn't want to join us for lunch.

So the three of us ordered a platter,

a salad (which dear actually ate),

and I shared a ribs with dear

After lunch we continued shopping and spent some time in Gap outlet shop. The sale items were really cheap! Though quality is not so good, for instance the Tshirt I got had bumps on it after just two or three wears.

My loot included one Kate spade wallet, two Coach wristlet. Those were the main buys. See I am very good rite, controlled myself.

Actually I am saving the heavy duty stuff for Europe. Haha.

We drove back at around six, luckily still plenty of sunlight was available. Miss Hamster bought a burger to eat during the car ride back.

We returned the car and went back to the hotel to drop our shopping bags. Miss Hamster suggested eating at Danji Restaurant- the only Korean restaurant that has one Michelin star in NYC- which I happily agreed with since I also want to try that place.

Pretty restaurant right

The houses upstairs which I thot looked very got feel. Hee.

As you can see from the photos, the lighting in the restaurant is dim. The seating is tight too. So it was hard to take clear photos and I didn't want to take out the Olympus Pen to avoid looking weird. Even Mr Uncle wasn't taking photos.

So no food photos here. :( but I pretty enjoyed the meal. The dishes were served tapas style and quite small in serving. We had the pork belly (which everyone loved), wagyu beef, Kimchi fried rice with sausage, tofu with don't know what topping and I can't rem what else. One of the best meals I had in NYC though it was pricey.

Talking about price, here's when the turning point abt our view of Ms Hamster came. When the bill came, she offered to pay first. Since the three of them (dear, mr uncle, ms hamster) each has an allowance, dear had suggested they could just split the bill when we ate together. Dear thot they would not be so calculative and we overlooked that they may be paying a bit more for my share. But Ms Hamster also had no objections and didn't voice out any concerns.

Then when it comes to paying the bill, she made a snide comment and told me how nice that all my meals are paid for. OK~~~bitch alert

That kinds of put a damper on the mood for the trip. Luckily I dun have to interact with her everyday.

Too bad lor, my dear dear is so good that he got a chance to bring me along and help pay for me. Ur dear dear cannot then dun come and suan me lor.

And Limpeh paid my own airfare of $2.7k ok. I also invested heavily hor.

So we went back to the hotel with a bad taste in the mouth and...went to sleep soon haha.

I don't know why we are always quite tired after getting back to the hotel. It is always late by the time we settled down. I think it is becos we tend to eat dinner late, like at 8pm plus. We didn't watch much tv and I didn't really use my iPad too! That's a record man.
