And we finally did so on one of the weekday evenings. This place is always full house, with a pretty long queue outside the restaurant during peak hours. We were there at 8pm plus and had to wait for almost 10 minutes for our table.
The owner here is also a bit of a food Nazi. Customers will only be seated when everyone is present. Service can be a little grouchy. And the menu is limited. But the crowds keep coming back.
An uncle who was in front of us in the queue, with his wife, was so desperate to get a table quickly that he told the waitress we can all share a table together. I don't think Dear liked that idea. :p
Dear preferred the sour and spicy noodles ($5) here to the 炸酱面 (also $5) pictured below. On the other hand, I preferred the latter. I find the sour and spicy noodles not spicy enough for me.
But I find the 炸酱面 robust and full of flavours. Toss in the restaurant's home made chilli which is provided at each table, and I find a very nice kick in eating the noodles. I don't eat the cucumbers, by the way.
The highlight of the meal. Or rather the disappointment of the meal. There was a strong pepper and sesame smell in the broth of the dumplings. Not a very good competition, I must say.
We plucked up our courage to ask the lady at the cashier (she looked like a lady boss) if they had changed the chef. She told us she doesn't know. Zzz. The lady asked us for our feedback and said she will convey it to the kitchen.
Our friend who had also recently visited the restaurant told us that she didn't encounter any such problems, when we related our experience.
Maybe it was just an off day in the kitchen. :p
