Lee's Taiwanese

I had one of the most disappointing meals of 2012 at Lee's Taiwanese in Star Vista. I was interested to try the mee sau from the place after reading that it provides chilli with the noodles. We had first went to Tai Thai, which is the restaurant's first outlet. Alas, the mee sua wasn't available and we could only try the supposedly good pork chop rice, which was quite good.

Which is why I was still interested in giving their new outlet in Star Vista a go when it opened.

In the end, this was what my mee sua looked like. I asked the waitress for chilli, but she said they don't have chilli sauce and could only give me the usual chilli oil usually served in Chinese restaurants. Dear asked another waitress if the mee sua came with chilli sauce, but was also told no.

So I have no idea what's happening with the place. Maybe their standards dropped or they only hammed things up when inviting food reviewers.

The mee sua itself had nothing to shout about.

We ordered the pork chop rice again, and while it still decent, it is not good enough for us to come back again for a third visit.

Conclusion: Avoid this place.

The hidden gem that we unearthed at Bugis is still the best place to go for Taiwanese food, for now. And you even get to be served by Taiwanese staff. It's almost as authentic as it can get.
