After a good rest from an early night, we woke up bright and early the next day for breakfast. According to my research when planning for the trip, a must-have in Port Stephens is a pie from:
Red Neds Pie Bar is reputed to serve one of the best pies down under.
My pie: I think it was some seafood flavoured pie. I'm not a fan of pie so I can't say much about the taste except that it was full of ingredients and I liked the light crispy puff. But I guess it's a tick of the check list.
After breakfast, we walked back to our hotel to pack for the last leg of our road trip back to Sydney.
Some of the scenery on the way:
We made a pit stop at KFC to refuel our stomachs. Teehee.
Driving through the Darling Harbour Bridge. We are back in the city.
We returned the car after dropping off our luggage at the Meriton Serviced Apartments. Super nice room that I wanted to book to pamper ourselves after a road trip.
With the car returned, we took the bus to Surry Hills to explore the quaint neighbourhood and visit Bourke Street Bakery for a tea break.
A pretty little suburb: The area has one of the highest concentration of F&B businesses in Sydney.
And we reached Bourke Street Bakery! This famous bakery was also highly recommended to us by Dear's friend whom we can only say "Don't be so exaggerative lah".
The yummy pastries in the window display.
We ordered a pork sausage fennel roll
And a ginger creme brulee tart. Something like that. I can't rem!
And with a cup of coffee, we sat outdoors by the roadside to enjoy the afternoon.
We went back to the hotel to check out our room after the tea break. Tadah! Welcome to our serviced apartment!
It comes with a washing machine, dryer, and big kitchen with dining area. There's also space for a living area with sofa and television, as you can see from the previous picture.
The bathroom.
I love the room! Although luxury comes at a price. Each night costs us around SGD 250. :( It is the most expensive accomodation that we have booked on our trips that are not villas. But the huge space and amentities made me felt very happy and pamperd especially since we will spend more timein the toom as compared to other trips as there are not much night activities in Sydney. So the price is still worth it!When evening came, we strolled along the Chinatown area to do some shopping and get dinner. But we didn't buy much lah. Everything is so expensive!
At the Queen Victoria Building
where Dear got stuck in one of the toy shops. As always, hurhur.
We grabbed dinner at Miso restaurant at World Square Shopping Centre. Time to settle our cravings for Asian food and since we love Japanese food, this non-fancy restaurant which supposedly serves the best Tonkatsu in Sydney, is the best choice!
The best thing is that prices were pretty reasonable. The average pricing was about SGD20- a bargain for Japanese food in a Western country.
The interiors of the restaurant. Come early or be prepared to queue. We were lucky we just walked in before the dinner crowd descended.
I ordered a Aburi salmon don set.
And Dear ordered a Tonkatsu set. Yumms, we love the food and did a take-away again over the day after.
It is time to do some work after eating. Since there were no other places we wanted to visit, we went back to the hotel after dinner and did some laundry for the dirty clothes worn during the road trip.
