Taiwan Day 10 - Taipei
Soon came the realisation that it's gonna be our last day in Taiwan. But even though so, we still had a full day to ourselves because our flight was delayed and due to take off only at 4am.
We spent the morning shopping in the vicinity of our hotel before heading over to Jay Chou's themed restaurant for lunch, Mr. J, that was located inside the Taipei Medical University. It was a last minute decision since we haven't had a lot of meals in a restaurant. I thought it was also good to just chill and relax the day away.
There is supposedly a free shuttle bus to get to the restaurant but they weren't available on that day because it was the weekend. So we had to make our way on the local bus.
You should be able to see the restaurant if you head towards the direction of this clock tower in the campus
The restaurant was based on his first movie "Secret"
And a rather narcissistic painting hangs near the front door
In the cabinet lies a not-for-sale bear whom was told by Jay not to run about. Lol
And I wonder if the Golden Horse statuette was the real deal or a replica
We were told we were rather lucky because someone else didn't show up for their booking reservation and we could take their seats. Not too sure if he was bluffing us or not because the place wasn't that packed
Warning: Do not play piano in case it sends you back into the past
The stairs leading up to the bathroom
Leave a message to Jay for NT20. God knows if he reads them. Lol
Located just outside of the bathroom, what a place to display all of his past ten albums

We were half prepared to expect mediocre food at exorbitant prices but when we flipped the menu, we soon realise it was really affordable. And the food was definitely above our expectations.
The appetiser that came drenched with a pink dressing. Not too sure if it's grapefruit but it definitely tasted awesome and goes really well with the greens
This was some tomato-based spaghetti which was probably some kind of a fusion with their local dish. Wasn't really to our liking but I guess it really depends on individuals
And the creamy mentaiko spaghetti. It was a safe option but it definitely tasted more than that. It was probably one of the better mentaiko spaghetti that we have tried before
Even the dessert wasn't too low of a standard even though it may look slightly normal and dull in picture

And finally our last stop in Taiwan which needs no introduction: Ximending. And the one thing that we would never fail to go to when we are here is to have 阿宗面线.
"The best vermicelli ever!" says the meow. But her ratings are more often based on the quality of the chilli rather than the food itself
And our last indulgence was to have the 麻辣火锅. Can't recall the name of this place but apparently it is one of the top two 麻辣火锅 restaurants in ximending
A little snippet of what we had. The food was slightly above average and there was definitely no lack of variety that must be said. The best part was the dessert where they had an assortment of the premium flavours from haagen diaz. Yummy~

And as always, going home was a reluctant affair.
We bid farewell to Taiwan, a country that we may not revisit anytime soon, having explored quite a fair bit of this lovely place
And last but not least, we welcome all the friends that Chel Chel made on this trip. Lol
