Japan Day 9

Japan- Day 9

I think one reason why Singaporeans like to travel is the sense of space in other countries that we don't here at home. There is a huge Krispy Kreme shop in the open space in front of our hotel towards Takashimaya that is furnished with transparent glass walls. One can eat a yummy donut with coffee while looking at the rest of the world walk past.

So we found ourselves here this morning en route to Takashimaya for shopping, hehe.

Our leisurely breakfast.

We shopped enough in Takashimaya (specifically Uniqlo) for us to redeem a free ice cream. Not too shabby for a free gift.

The next shopping stop of the day was Harajuku where I bought a cute backpack. Then we moved to Akihabara. It was Saturday and Dear was wondering  if the flea market that he saw on the last trip was opened anot. I thought it may be only opened on Sunday, but since we didn't want to shift our itinerary for the next day, I told Dear let's go to Akihabra again to try our luck.

There was no flea market and cheap toys on sale when we reached :(

After walking one round around Akihabara, we went to a mall for lunch. There was a couple of guys who had set up stalls along the roadside and while I went into the mall first to use the toilet, Dear managed to snag several Dragon Ball toys 😅 So I guess his shopaholic craving was considered settled.

We finally got down to having lunch. Dear chose Jap pancake. It was pretty yummy and a nice refuge from walking in the cold.

Side dish of beef cubes to share

And something that I can't rem, haha

We went back to the hotel to put down Dear's buys and proceeded to Jiyogaoka- a new suburb that we have not visited before. It is the suburb that most Tokyo residents want to live in. The vibe is something like our Holland Village meet Haji Lane. Coincidentally, the Japan Chelsea Club was organizing a party here tonight for all Chelsea fans who have come from all over the world for the Club World Cup competition.

I know, we are such fan boys to attend the gathering. Totally not our style but we thought we will pop by for a short while to gain the experience and show face.

The streets of Jiyogaoka are lined with lots of zakka style shops.

Election vans

There's a train crossing as you venture into the suburb! Photo opportunity!

And finally we reached the pub where the party was held. There were two guys holding signs to the party outside the train station and dressed in Chelsea gear. That's how serious the Japanese are when they do things.

Lots of Caucasians in the group and everyone got very happy

The president (guy in suit at right) of the Chelsea fan club giving a welcome speech. Pretty mei mei on the left.

And Ted was there too.

The cute mei mei was the attention of the night. Many wanted to take photos with her. The only girl that rejected the charms of Chel Chel (doing his charming on right of photo) who was trying to get her attention.

We left after a while and went to get a late dinner. This means stopping at our favourite izakaya- Tian gou izakaya which  is near our hotel.

Time to head back after filling up the stomach. Think the bill came up to around $40. In hind sight, cheap for the quality and ambience! The waiter was a little unfriendly because he didn't understand us but ok lah, not as rude as some waiters that you get here in Sg.

Bye!
