New York- Day 8

New York- Day 8

It's the last day of our trip. We woke up to a carnival setting on the streets. Yeah! Pasar Malam!

We headed for breakfast at Madison Avenue first. Very high life right, LOL.

The pretty little cafe which only had counter seats for us to lounge and watch the world go by.

Exploring the high end shopping street of NY after breakfast.

We spent quite some time in the flagship Apple store because Dear was tasked to help buy back stuff from here.

Very cool spiral staircase as the entrance to the place. It feels like you are going down to a secret hangout place.

The store was very cool. It had nice clean toilets, water coolers, and free wifi (don't even need password!) You can stay in here the whole day if you want!

We also walked past the Tiffany store which seems to look different from what Audrey Hephun walked past. I did pester dear to go in and walk one round. Hee.

Posting this just because I think this is a nice photo haha.

The mannequins of the shopping street who didn't talk to me. Maybe I didn't look like a serious shopaholic.

Walked past the A&F store, snapped a picture and ran!

I am proud to say that I didn't buy anything and cause any damage to Dear's wallet ^ ^

We got back to the hotel around noon to check out and met up with Mr Uncle who wanted to go to the Garment District.

Walking through the pasar malam while walking down Times Square to Garment District.

Anyway service in NYC is bad, especially when they see you are Asian. Even our hotel which is of a reputable brand is like that. The reception staff is always unhelpful towards Dear and they only greet the Whites.

Knick Knacks sold at the pasar malam.

Giant hot dog which we thought of buying to share but decided to save the stomach space for lunch.

We walked past the theatre area on our way to lunch. Lots of people queuing at each theatre!

After a long walk, we finally reached our lunch place which serves good grilled chicken.

We ordered quite a bit for three- a grilled chicken, salad and seafood dish- but we almost managed to finish all. It was a good meal to end the trip: one of the better tasting meals and price was not to high for the fancy looking set up.

We continued walking to the Garment District after lunch. Walked past the weekend market which didn't entice us.

This had a very American feel though.

I was in fact a little tired already from all the walking.

After we were done at the Garment District, we walked upwards to the hotel to collect our luggage.

Passing by Times Square AGAIN. But it was more interesting this time as this was a Saturday and Times Square came alive with many characters seeking to provide joy to tourists. But beware all these costumed figures who go around volunteering to take photos with you. They expect a fee afterwards although you are not obliged to pay by law. I was saved by Dear from the clutches of a minion.

Some of these costumed figures can be quite aggressive, like this scary-looking Woody who wanted to take a photo with me.

This is how scary-looking Woody spend his break time.

We also finally saw the legendary almost naked women of Times Square but I don't think Dear found it very interesting.

Other women of Times Square which I think will be more interesting to the men.

World Cup fever, yo

And with that, I end our New York posts as we collected our bags, went to the airport and flew halfway through the globe back to Singapore again.

It was a trip of a lifetime and memorable in its own ways, despite the fact that I wished there was more positive experiences and I could have more personal time with Dear.

Thank you Dear for bringing me along (although I paid for my air ticket) and took good care of me.

Bye bye!
