Jalan Kayu is famous for its pratas but it has a couple of great buffalo wings joints there too. We were in the area after Dear suggested trying out the Sunset Grill buffalo wings.
Alas, as things always happen when I'm with Dear, the restaurant was closed on the Tuesday that we were there. @_@
We paced up and down the stretch of shop houses and decided to have our dinner at New Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh. The place was set up by a former convict who wanted to give himself and others a new life. So it's very meaningful to patronise them.
The broth here is slightly herbal and pepperish. What I love about their bak kut teh is that it has loads of ingredients for a one person's serving. Four pieces of ribs, slices of pig liver, intestine and golden mushrooms!
We also ordered a serving of the braised pig trotters which was rather bland and came with little meat.
The staff that night was hilarious. They brought food that we didn't order to our table thrice, one after the another. It was bewildering to see them keep coming with food! Turns out that the previous order by the previous customer was inked onto our order form as well, so the kitchen stuff prepared another set of the order, haha.
