HK day 4

HK Day 4

The plan on Day 4 was to go to Stanley Market. We went to eat breakfast near our hotel, a traditional eating house with a very ang moh name- Australian Dairy & Co. I love how good food is just so near our hotel!

The menu was fixed: basically sunny side up and toast (or u can choose scrambled eggs)

and macaroni!
My favourite breakfast meal! I love the eggs, dun noe how they cook 2 eggs tog. And the toast was very buttery even though it looked quite lousy. And I love the macaroni soup, it's a bit salty but I like its savoury taste.

And another first, this is the first time I see Dear eat macaroni soup! Wahaha.

Somehow if bring him travel more,

I think he will learn to eat more healthily. If ask him to eat this in Sg, I think over his dead body lor!

It's amazing how much Hongkies eat for breakfast. Eggs and toast are standard ingredients. I seriously wonder abt their cholestrol level, eating so many eggs.

After breakfast, we took the MTR to Admiralty station to take bus to Stanley Market

The underground bus terminal. We are going to take bus 6X!

The bus we are taking. Another new kind of bus for us to take. HK has so many diff types of bus!

The bus ride up the hill to Stanley Market was quite fun. Lots of scenary to see. On the way, we also saw Repluse Bay and another beach. So beautiful.

But the bus driver was driving quite fast and Dear was quite scared. Lousy!

At Stanley Market. It really is quite a touristy place. Lots of ang mohs and expats. But still a nice quite little town

The sea view. We walked out to the rocks to take photos. Although it didn't rain, the sky was quite gloomy.

If only we had bright weather, can enjoy the scenary more!

The promenade area lined with many restaurants. Really, this is quite a nice chill out place.

The Martime Musuem opposite the shore

Overturned boats. Adds colour to the dull rocks and gloomy sky

Retro looking store that Dear insisted he wants to a photo of

So I told Dear, 'There's another old fashioned fruit stall here!' Ah, the glamour of old style HK

We walked around the shops and also the sea area til the afternoon. I had wanted to visit the maritime museum and the beach but Dear didn't really wan to. He wanted to go do last minute shopping before we pack our packs to move into Disney Hollywood Hotel the next day.

So no choice lor, have to bring him shopping. Dun noe he liked to shop so much. Ended up we also gave up the Avenue of Stars and Symphony of Lights and taking the Star Ferry. Nvm, leave all these for the next trip to HK!

Off we went to Tsim Sha Tsui to shop at the Espirit Factory Outlet.

Diff parts of HK look so vastly different. They are only a short MTR ride away from each other but as you step out into each district, all have their own flavours.

It was abt 3pm and our stomachs were rumbling. We needed to eat first to refuel before shopping and we need to eat it now!

So we spotted this pasta chain called Spaghetti House just a few steps away from Esprit and decided to try it. I rationalised that I have been seeing its name boards all over HK during the few days we are here, so their food must be quite good.

Nice classy decor. Prices were a little more ex than we thot but reasonable.

But looking out of the window, this is wat we see: old looking streets and scaffolding.

I think that is the charm of HK. The mix of new and old, sophistication and tradition. It's such a vibrant city. I never fail to be amazed how I can turn a corner into an old street and turn another corner to emerge onto a hip young street with many trendy shops.

We were very hungry and I suggested getting the onion rings. Look, they come stacked like that!

And they are literally onion rings. They have whole full strips of onion in them, not just some mashed up onion paste like most onion rings. And the batter was absolutely crunchy, not like fried batter. And not oily too! I think this is a very good eg of how serious Hongkies are abt using food integrity and not scrimping on ingredients. F&B ppl here shld learn this!

My cream based spaghetti with chicken and mushroom. Quite nice and the chicken chunks were huge.

Dear's seafood risotto. One of the restaurant's recommended dish.

The risotto was very nice! It was Dear's first time eating risotto and he liked it very much. I've eaten too many kinds of risotto so I dun noe how authentic is it, but wat I noe is, it really taste good. And lots of ingredients inside like fish, squid, scallops and prawns.

I'm drooling thinking of the food. Later I found out that Spaghetti House is under the same parent company as Cafe De Coral, no wonder the similarities in business model.

Oh, and the service staff was very friendly for HK standard and understood English!

Eating lunch here was a really good decision. The good food and nice setting refreshed us thoroughly for the tough shopping trip ahead. It was nice eating something different after eating so much HK Chinese food. I was already missing chilli by this point!

After shopping at Esprit, we went to Ladies Market and Fa Yuen Street after a quick trip back to the hotel to put down our stuff. These markets are like 1km long! My legs were aching walking along the streets.

Al freso shopping

So many toys! And see how Dear is trying to select his toys. I think he almost went crazy with all the shopping.

We zoomed around like mad ppl trying to squeeze as many shopping as we can. We went back to Argyle Centre for a toilet break and ate the yummy cold noodles snack for dinner. That's how rushed we were. Pity I didn't get the cute floral skirt there, am regretting it a little now.

I managed to eat stinking tofu! Grabbed as we were rushing along the streets. Quite nice though not that stinky enough! But if it's more stinky, I think Dear will run away from me liao lor. Only regret here is that I didn't eat their curry fish balls, only tried the version at Xu Liu Shan and I think it's a bit different lor.

At the last hours, Dear decided that he wanted to get his Death Note figurines and we chiong to Sino Centre to see if the shop is still opened. Alas it was closed already so we chiong to take a cab to Temple Street to see if they have it too.

Sad for Dear, he found that the Temple Street vendors were out to chop carrots and refused to buy from them. Pity me who had trudged up and down the street with him. My feet were really killing me already cos I was wearing slippers.

I must say I really felt so glad that Dear could hold on to all our shopping and still walk for so long. I know he was tired and was also struggling, but good job Dear! So man of u!

Nevertheless I bravely walked back to the hotel from Temple Street and we stopped by 7-11 to buy snacks and water to prepare for our Disneyland stay.

Bought a unique flavour to try. Supposed to eat in Disney's hotel, but ended up being our supper, hee

We bought 2 cup noodles and also ended up eating 1 of them for supper. Haha

After bathing, we still have to sort our stuff and pack our bags. Another super late night. And we cannot stand the tiredness liao, suggested to my frens to meet later in the morning to go Disneyland. Luckily they were not unhappy abt it. We really needed the sleep and rest!
