Taiwan Day 5

Taiwan Day 5

Breakfast was at Mister Donut again. We ate so many times that we almost could have exchanged points for a lunch box!

After breakfast, we headed to buy train tickets to go Jiufen.

The train system was not very user friendly and we asked a local for help to buy our tickets, whom also had a bit of difficulty trying to figure out how to help us.

Sitting on the train. An old couple came on board the train after a few stops and just signalled us to give up our seats. We were too astonished and just got up. So weird...

The sad thing was, when we reached the train station, we realised that Jinguashi was closed for renovations and will only be opened the NEXT day!

Such a wasted trip! If we had known, we could have come one day later. But now it's too late for any plan B. Grr.

So we just went straight to Jiufen.

The scenary at Jiufen when we finally reached.

The first snack store that we saw. Dear said the bbq cuttlefish was very juicy. Haha.

The streets before entering the retro streets of Jiufen.

Dear was quite happy shopping here cos there are a lot of knick knacks. He even found a magic shop which teaches magic card games, which he had eagerly tried to show me when we went back to the hotel at night.
Peanut-coated ice cream. Very nice! I had orginally thought that the combi was weird but it works.

Bbq mushrooms. Not very nice. And yes, the xiao mei mei was more interested in chatting on the phone :p

We also tried the famous fishball, cuttlefish balls etc. The texture was very Q.

The streets of Jiufen.

After that we took a bus to Keelung for its night market. Lucky it was opened in the late afternoon so there were still stuff for us to see.

The best thing that happened that day was that Dear managed to buy his Nike shoes- a chance find. So I guess the day was not a wasted trip although it did not work out as planned.

The famous butter crabs at Keelung night market. But I don't really like as it was too milky for me.

Keelung is a harbour city. So you have the salty sea right besides the tall buildings of the city.

After we finished touring the place at abt 5pm, we went back to Shilin night market to shop through the lanes that we had left out. Bought quite a few pieces of clothing.

We walked around near to 11.30pm. If we had went to Jinguashi, maybe we'll have had to double our shopping speed at Shilin. So overall it was quite a fulfilling day, I guess.

Was so tired from all the walking at Shilin and we bought more food back for supper. But evil Dear tried to prevent me from finishing them all because he did not want me to eat so much late at night.

Big bully~!
